Amy Littlejohn, Artist
Originally from a farm in Nebraska, I now live with my family in Illinois. My husband is involved in Agriculture, so I haven't landed far from my roots. Growing up on a farm gives you the opportunity to appreciate many things. Not the least of which is many hours spent among family. One of my first exposures to art was the purses my grandma would make for me out of bread wrappers. To the outside observer, they were twisted bits of thin plastic. But to me, they were love in physical, tangible form. Love, and sunsets across open fields, rain on metal barn roofs, the smell of newly-mown hay on a warm summer evening. They were snow-covered window sills, and warm holiday fires.
And those things became part of me, too.
Art, for all of us, is not only a form of expression, but a form of communication. It is everything you are, everyone you've loved, every experience you've had, all woven together to form an object which tells a story. A story which then joins with the stories of others to tell an even larger tale, as we all navigate life together. I hope you'll read some of my story among the art and jewelry on these pages. And as my jewelry is worn or my art enters your home, I hope you'll remember that the stories worth writing - those worth remembering - are all written to describe, from different angles and in different light: Love.
I am so glad you are here.
