About Julie

“I love to share my passion for art as an instructor, an advocate for art in my community, and through my own artwork.” -julie fjell

Julie is an artist, designer and art instructor. Her work is full of vibrant colors and carefree patterns. She paints functional pottery, which is fired in her studio. She draws notecards, coloring books, stationery, stickers and has started her first children’s book illustration project.

Julie is a lifelong teacher. After earning a degree in art and education from Nebraska Wesleyan University, she taught both high school and middle school art before becoming a full-time artist. She has continued her passion for teaching through a local art club, art camps for kids, adult art classes, art workshops in area schools and classes at assisted living/memory care facilities.

Julie comes from a line of women artists. Her great-grandmother’s oil paintings are hung in their home. She drew inspiration and instruction from her grandmother, who was a china painter and seamstress. Her mom has cultivated her love of art and desire to create through her own creative projects. Julie’s sister, Amy, is also an artist and art instructor. They encourage, inspire and ignite creativity in each other.

Julie shares her love of art with her children, their schools and the community.
